This month's Carhartt WIP Radio features Detroit-based DJ Holographic. Often described as a "one-woman funk machine," her sets move through house, disco, R&B, techno, and Motown influences—echoing the musical legacy of her hometown.
Since her 2020 debut EP Parallel Shifting, Holographic has built a distinct path. She mixed Detroit Love Vol. 5 in 2021 for Carl Craig's Planet E Communications, and 2024 released her LP House in the Dark through her second label, Through the Veil. Along the way, she has performed at venues such as London's Fabric and Berlin's Panorama Bar, where her music continues to draw energy from both the past and present.
For this episode, Holographic shares a mix shaped by her idea of music as "architecture for the spirit." The mix balances depth with funk, and is paired with an interview in which she reflects on Detroit's influence and her responsibility to carry that legacy forward.
