Audio Archives marks more than 15 years of Carhartt WIP Radio, a platform launched in 2008 to spotlight independent artists, underground scenes, and community-led storytelling. The project brings together 17 independent radio stations from around the world, each with its own local identity reflecting the growing cultural importance of radio as a space for discovery and creative freedom.
The release includes a 1,200 page book titled Audio Archives, which compiles Carhartt WIP Radio broadcasts from the past decade and a half. Alongside these archives are in-depth interviews with the 17 featured stations, offering insight into how they operate, support local artists, and build international connections. The publication serves both as a detailed record of the platform’s evolution and as a broader look at how independent radio continues to shape contemporary music culture.
The project also includes a capsule collection like hooded sweatshirt, two long-sleeve T-shirts, a record bag, and the Teenage Engineering OB-4 Magic Radio. The book and collection underline Carhartt WIP’s long-term commitment to music communities worldwide celebrating not just its own history, but the ongoing impact of independent radio today.
