For more than ten years, Kelman Duran, a Dominican-born artist based in Los Angeles, has worked across music, rhythm, and moving image. He has released music on labels such as Hundebiss, Boomkat Editions, Joyful Noise, and Scorpio Red, which he co-runs with London-based artist Ans M. His sound sits between club music, experimental pop, and ambient music, using bass, voice, and silence as key elements. Drawing from reggaeton, dembow, electronic, and ambient styles, Duran creates music that avoids fixed genres and focuses on mood and movement.
As a DJ and live performer, Duran treats each set as a space for contrast and surprise, mixing tempos, places, and influences into dynamic rhythms that engage the body. His collaborations include remixing Miami producer Nick Leon, working in the trio Sangre Nueva with DJ Phyton and Florentino, and contributing to projects for major artists, including a Grammy-winning collaboration with Beyoncé.
His latest project is FRANKIE & Kelman Duran, a collaboration with Austrian composer and vocalist Franziska Aigner. Their upcoming debut album, McArthur, blends broken beats, raw vocals, and quiet moments, sitting between club music and contemporary composition. For the EDWIN MUSIC CHANNEL, Duran delivers a mix featuring his own tracks and edits, alongside music by DJ Rod Lee, Florentino, Bambii, KD One, and reworked sounds from electronic music pioneer Karlheinz Stockhausen. True to his nature, Duran keeps words to a minimum, letting the music speak for itself.
